U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev
On November 16, the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a phone call to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The U.S. Secretary of State noted the holding of the next round of talks on the peace agreement of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 7 and reaffirmed the determination of the U.S. to contribute to the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that the Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s constant attention to the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and efforts by the U.S. in this direction were highly appreciated.
Nevertheless, our head of state noted that despite the efforts and negotiations in that direction, the contradictory statements made by the Armenian leadership in recent days have negative impact on the process of normalizing relations between the two countries and advancing the peace agenda.
Antony Blinken noted that there was a historic chance to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and sign the peace agreement and that the U.S. would continue its efforts to that end.
During the phone conversation, an exchange of views was held on the holding of the next meeting between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the peace agreement and the confidence building measures.
